ABOUT HETING XIA

Heting Xia, born in Nanjing, China, began studying the piano at the age of seven. At thirteen, he was admitted to the Precollege Division of the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Dr. Inesa Sinkevych. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at The Juilliard School, studying with Professor Soyeon Kate Lee.

 

Previously, Heting earned his Bachelor of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Professor Ran Dank and Wentworth Family Professor Emerita Natalya Antonova. He has participated in master classes with internationally renowned pianists and pedagogues, including Ursula Oppens, Angela Hewitt, Jerome Lowenthal, Victor Rosenbaum, Boris Slutsky, Alan Chow, among others.

 

Heting has performed in major venues such as Greenfield Hall and Miller Recital Hall at the Manhattan School of Music; Kodak Hall, Kilbourn Recital Hall, and Hatch Recital Hall at the Eastman School of Music; Paul Hall at The Juilliard School; as well as Steinway Galleries in China, Canada, and the United States.

 

In addition to his academic studies, Heting has participated in numerous international music festivals, including the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival, Gijón International Music Festival, PianoTexas, and Bowdoin Festival. Alongside his work as a pianist, he is also an active composer and has written dozens of works for solo instruments and small ensembles.
